Mckinney pool perimeterAt Medallion Pools, we always try to stay on the cutting when it comes to aquatic design and construction. Although it may be difficult to come up with fresh ideas, we have been in the business for enough years that we help people in the Prosper and Frisco area to have something truly unique in their yard.

It wasn't all that long ago that some of the ideas which are now considered ordinary were on the cutting edge as well. For example, you likely have seen many vanishing edge pools or an all tile pool finish, but just a few years ago, they were considered to be unique as well. Contractors were quick to jump on these new ideas and they still remain popular down to this day.

One of the unique features that many people are now enjoying is a narrow boundary. In times past, the boundary between the edge of the pool and the beginning of the landscaping was clearly defined and there may have been quite a distance between the two, typically separated by a patio. That is no longer the case, however, and there are now many residential projects that are enjoying having the landscape work right up to the edge of the pool even into the edge of the pool!

This concept was originally described as where the "water meets dirt." It involved having the landscape, or softscape, meet the surface of the water so that no decking is necessary between the two. This idea has a lot of appeal, especially to homeowners who are looking for a way to expand the size of their pool with a limited area in the backyard.

One of the ways that this was done was by using an angled stainless steel plate that was bolted to the exterior gutter wall. With this plate in place, it would allow soil and grass to be planted right up to the edge of the pool and at times, even into the edge of the pool! It was often necessary to customize these plates and each project became its own "prototype."

At first, this type of design was seen in a few pools but today, it is beginning to catch on with many designers. If you would like to learn more about how you can enjoy this type of pool design in your yard, the experts at Medallion Pools would be happy to discuss it with you. You can contact us on the phone or through our website to learn more about this and many other exciting methods that we used to build the proper pool for you.
